When Nothing Happens

Amikor nem történik semmi.png

There is a state when everything just stops. Nothing happens. No reactions. No feedback. You write, you work, you do your thing… and it still feels like you are not getting anywhere. The weather is bad outside. It is not much better inside either. And this is when the question comes up: does any of this even make sense?

This is not failure. This is the part nobody shows. The waiting. The in-between state. When nothing is visible yet, but you have already been in it for a while.

And this is where you have two options. You stop, or you keep going even when you are not fully convinced it is worth it. This is where everything gets decided.

At times like this I find myself wondering what everyone else is so busy with. I run two companies in completely different industries. One of them is a very active, technology-based software business. I could list how many countries we are in daily contact with, but that is not the point. Sometimes all communication just stops. It feels like your name has been deleted from everyone’s contact list. Then a few hours later, or a couple of days later, everything starts moving again. When I ask what happened, the answer is usually the same: “We did not forget you. We thought everyone forgot about us.”

The other thing I am building is this writing-based community project. There are pauses there too. Moments when nothing seems to move forward. I was about to go deeper into that, but right in that moment I got the most important like of my life on one of my pieces. A piece that came from a very strange, personal connection. I honestly thought I would never reach that point.

So what changed? What made the sun come out, if not outside, then at least in my head?

Simple. I have been working since early morning. And it made a difference.

There is always a point to it. There always is.
